A woman was found dead on Saturday after her pickup truck shot about 50 feet off the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway into an area full of brush and trees near the Glendale- Los Angeles border.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m., causing a traffic jam for hours around the 5 and Ventura (134) freeways.
The woman’s husband, who was also in the vehicle, survived the crash. He had minor injures. Their identities and information on who was driving was not available. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
By noon, CHP spokesman Ed Jacobs estimated slow traffic for another hour following the accident.

Big Rig Overturned Near Burbank
According to the California Highway Patrol, two lanes were closed after a fuel tanker overturned on the northbound 5 Freeway near Burbank.
The accident, involving several vehicles, took place a little before noon when the Arco fuel tanker crashed with another truck near the Western Avenue off- ramp. The CHP said the tanker spilled about 25 gallons of waste oil and diesel fuel on the dirt shoulder. The other truck in the initial collision ended up atop a Mini Cooper. Following the crash, a Cigalert has been issued for the lane closures as crews work to clear the debris and oil from the road way.
No word on the number of people involved, however Burbank firefighters said there did not appear to be any serious injuries.
